DESCRIPTION
The County of Yolo is recruiting to fill one (1) regular, full-time positions in the class of Legal Process Clerk I at the Yolo County District Attorney's Office.
The PositionThe Legal Process Clerk I is the entry and trainee level class in the Legal Process Clerk Series. Incumbents assist with daily office functions and learn to perform a combination of various court‑related legal clerical functions such as, but are not limited to, accepting, processing, producing, and filing documents related to the establishment and maintenance of a court‑related legal record.

- Must be able to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.
- Must be able to use sound judgement in applying appropriate laws, regulations and policies.
- Must answer and route incoming calls on a multi‑line phone system with professionalism and enthusiasm.
- Possesses word processing, spreadsheets and database programs software knowledge and experience.
- Is an enthusiastic and adaptable professional with exceptional multitasking abilities and verbal and written communication skills.
- Is a customer‑focused professional and team player who is excited about starting a career in the justice system and serving the public.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSDuties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Receives receipts and post payments of fines, bails and filing fees.
- Receives and files legal documents and ensures they are placed in the appropriate record.
- Sets up and maintains files in accordance with established policy in creating a court‑related legal record.
- Accepts, reviews, returns, endorses, certifies and/or files documents, and records related information in a computer.
- Prepares, types and/or generates a variety of simple forms, documents, notices, letters, orders, and/or abstracts related to legal processes.
- Verifies, enters, retrieves and updates information and data into a computer terminal; records case information manually and/or electronically.
- Prepares and types a variety of simple court‑related legal forms, documents, notices, letters and abstracts, as well as other correspondence related to legal filing and legal processes.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDSMinimum Qualifications
Experience
:
One (1) year of general clerical experience; AND
Typing
:
Must type a rate of not less than 35 net words per minute.
Substitution
: A year of full‑time education beyond high school may substitute for the required experience.
License
:
Some positions in this classification may require incumbents to possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license, Class C or higher, to carry out job related duties. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a physical or mental disability may request a reasonable accommodation.
