POSITION SUMMARYUnder general supervision from the Lead Medical Provider, the Specialty Physician is responsible for providing or supervising medical care in assigned patients. Works collaboratively to promote strong teamwork and customer service for excellence in healthcare services, staff and patient experience, access to care and quality improvement.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS- Provide direct specialty medical services to program patients.
- Assist in establishment, review and revision of Medical Department protocols, policies and procedures.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining professional relationships with ancillary medical, laboratory and pharmaceutical services within the community.
- Evaluate diagnostic test results and prescribe or administer treatment as necessary.
- Evaluate patients with complex problems and refer to appropriate specialists if problem cannot be treated in-house.
- Work in conjunction with other Medical Clinic personnel in providing ongoing health education and information on preventative medicine.
- Assist in quality assurance and peer review activities.
- Maintain the standards of patient care within applicable area and scope of practice.
- Responsible for communicating problems identified involving personnel, medical and behavioral health staff, patients, families and the general public to the Clinic Manager or appropriate staff.
- Perform peer review for other specialty providers as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- California licensed Physician (Board Certified in area of specialty preferred). Out-of-state license is accepted, but must be able to obtain California license within one year.
- Two (2) years clinical experience in FQHC tribal clinic preferred.
- Maintain current DEA registration.
- Sensitive to Indian culture and health needs.
- Demonstrates understanding of age-related or specialty issues and developmental needs for each population served by adapting style, treatment and plan to each population.
- Ability to use electronic health records and maintain current, accurate medical records. Familiarity with Microsoft applications, such as Outlook, Excel, Word, & Teams.
- Demonstrates honesty, ethical behavior, and a commitment to doing what is right, building trust and respect among the healthcare team and the community.
- Ability to understand and adhere to established policies, procedures, protocols, and the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
- Able to work collaboratively with multiple health professionals in a busy and complex environment using tact and diplomacy.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong organizational problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Reliable transportation and ability to adhere to regular attendance.
