Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with a CA license, ACLS/BLS/NIHSS/PALS certifications, and proficiency in telemetry for night shifts.
Responsibilities- Position is in the Intensive Care Unit of an acute care hospital
- 8-bed ICU with primary focus on medical ICU patients
- Ratios are typically 1:1-2 for patient assignments
- Responsibilities include care for patients on telemetry and ventilators
- Cerner is the EMR system used for all charting
- 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required
- First to float to Med Surg unit and sister facilities in the region
- Charge nurse on duty, usually not assigned patients but may provide break relief
- Nurse aides available based on census and staffing needs
- Hospitalist or intensivist in house; 24/7 RT and pharmacy available
- Bedside reporting at start of shift
- Staff expected to float first to Med Surg at home hospital and to sister facilities as necessary
- Orientation includes 1-2 days on the floor with a preceptor
- Self-scheduling is used; finalized by manager, with schedules released 4 weeks out
- Scrub color required is navy; undershirts may be navy, white, or black, and scrub jackets must be navy
- Holiday shifts will rotate with core staff
- Candidates may not have been directly employed by Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year unless previously employed through an external firm as PRN
- If required testing is failed on second attempt, candidate will not be eligible to work at the Sacramento region for 6 months
- First-time travelers will be considered
- Current, active CA RN license required at time of application
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU RN experience required
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS (all AHA)
- Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips
- Two supervisory/professional references required: one from the last 12 months, one from the last 3 years
- Successful completion of Relias Dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance, with only two attempts allowed
- Ability to float to Med Surg and other facilities as needed
- Driver’s license and completed modules required prior to start
