Position: Dispatcher (Shipping Clerk)

Job Description

The Dispatcher (Shipping Clerk) oversees and facilitates the logistics/supply chain operations of the branch. You will coordinate personnel and processes to achieve the effective distribution of products, most of which is also manufactured in the Woodland branch. This position requires regular interaction with our valued customers; from responding to customer questions and complaints to notifying customers about delays in the delivery schedule.

Also required is frequent coordination with other departments, such as Customer Service and Production. The successful Dispatcher (Shipping Clerk) ensures the smooth operation of a variety of channels aiming for maximum efficiency.

You’ll be responsible for (but not limited to):

  • Provide accurate and timely freight scheduling and competitive freight quotes to support efficient operations.
  • Coordinate daily logistics operations by building loads, routing trucks, and dispatching drivers to ensure timely and efficient deliveries.
  • Applying transportation policies and procedures and coordinating and monitoring truck routing operations.
  • Coordinating all freight movements with customers and service providers and providing customers with regular status updates.
  • Preparing the weekly shipment forecast, working to expedite orders when necessary, and regularly reviewing backlog with the Shipping & Receiving Manager.
  • Accurately and timely tracking and processing A/P and reviewing A/R monthly with Shipping & Receiving Manager.
  • Reviewing claims with Shipping & Receiving and partnering with customers on completing claims.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in logistics with a strong understanding of transportation operations.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and apply effective problem‑solving strategies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel, with the ability to learn new software quickly.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
