Detox Registered Nurse (RN) Part Time Nights
We are searching for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a part‑time position in our Baltimore detox facility. The individual will work under the direction of the Director of Nursing and Charge Nurses.
Qualifications- Associate's in Nursing
- 1+ year of experience as an RN in a detox or similar treatment facility environment
- State RN license in good standing
- Current CPR certification
- Experience in detox and psychiatric nursing
- Experience administering medication orally, subcutaneously, and IM
- Ability to recognize signs and symptoms of withdrawal pain and of a critically dangerous medical emergency and respond appropriately
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to respond physically with swiftness to a patient emergency
- Ability to respond calmly and timely during an emergency or potential emergency situation
- Familiarity with ASAM criteria preferred
- Familiarity with JCAHO Standards of Care for Behavioral Health
- Electronic Health Record experience
- Administers prescribed medications as directed by the medical team.
- Makes independent decisions within the scope of the license involving patient care.
- Uses sound judgment in informing the Chief Nursing Officer/Charge Nurse and the Medical Director of all decisions made and how they should be communicated.
- Monitors and records through our Electronic Health System all aspects of patient care, including:
- Nursing assessments during intake
- Shift assessments including CIWA and COWS assessments
- Changes in patient condition and updates on progress; other relevant documentation arising with each individual patient
- Discharge assessments and paperwork, following Universal Infection Control Precautions using personal protective equipment as required, ensuring that direct care staff performs these precautions as well as abides by Infection Control and Exposure policies
- Reconciles medication at the end of each shift, maintaining accurate logs of distribution of controlled substances in accordance with regulation
- Ensures that during shift change the nurse on duty is properly informed of any information needed to continue high standards of care for all patients.
