General Purpose

The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership team responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store as well as the general operations and supervision of the Store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. Duties include opening and closing the Store, supervising Associates, maintaining a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment, ensuring proper merchandise presentation, a clean work area, and executing and supervising Company operational processes as needed.

Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
  • Understand that safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviors in everything you do.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment for everyone. Immediately correct or report any unsafe conditions or practices to Store Leadership.
  • Responsible for building security including entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, Cash Office security, armored carrier pick‑ups, and register area security.
  • Remove clutter and ensure safe, clear egress to emergency exits.
  • Ensure customer safety including accident prevention, accident reporting, and emergency procedures.
  • Test all fire alarm systems as scheduled; respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.
Customer Service
  • Treat all Customers, Associates, and other leaders with respect.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times; recognize Associates using Company recognition programs.
Personal and Store Brand
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with Company Dress Code and ensure all Associates adhere to the Dress Code at all times.
  • Keep all areas of the Store clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.
  • Responsible for daily trash removal.
General Merchandising
  • Ensure recovery, sizing and markdowns are completed to Company standards through teaching, assigning tasks, and following up per Company best practice.
  • Responsible for receiving merchandise trucks when needed.
  • Process all merchandise with a sense of urgency.
  • Responsible for receipt of all non‑merchandise inbound deliveries (signs, supplies, special deliveries, etc.)
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all Stockrooms.
  • Help deliver and place merchandise on sales floor when all merchandise is processed.
  • Secure and process back‑stock per Company policy.
  • Merchandise the department including the back stock.
  • Reduce loss due to damage.
  • Ensure compliance with monthly presentation guidelines in assigned area.
  • Execute floor moves and signings, including promotional signings as needed.
  • Perform re‑wraps as needed.
Loss Prevention
  • Understand and comply with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program and be responsible for Store Loss Prevention, which includes maintaining a large Customer Service presence on the sales floor, Customer and Associate engagement, and heightened Loss Prevention awareness.
