Program Leader (Trip & Transportation) – Camp Greene Wood
Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago & Northwest Indiana
Looking for a summer job that makes a difference? Join the Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana 2026 camp staff today! Our Camp Greene Wood day camp is a place where energetic and passionate staff come together to provide a safe and positive learning environment for girls ages 5-17.
Work Commitment- Dates:
June 2 – August 1, 2026 - Weekly schedule: 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday–Friday
- Saturday and Sundays off
- Camp closed June 19, 2026 and July 3–5, 2026 (unpaid days)
- Special overnight week:
June 29 – July 1, 2026 (includes 2‑hour break on Tuesday) - Includes leadership training, staff training, in‑service day, and a staff training week (7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)
- Pay: $120 per day
- First Aid and CPR certifications
- Optional Archery, Lifeguard, and Aquatic Small Craft training available for interested staff
- Access to GSGCNWI Employee Assistance Program
- Loves interacting with children and has prior experience working with varying ages
- Enjoys spending time outdoors and has experience in an outdoor setting
- Must be 21+ years old as of June 14, 2026 and possess a high school diploma or GED
- 1–3 years of experience working with children in a camp or similar setting
- Willingness to work and, at times, live in an indoor and outdoor camp setting, including irregular hours, rustic facilities, limited technology, and varied weather conditions
- Oversee the coordination of off‑site field trips, including schedule management, safety and supervision protocols, and training staff on trip procedures
- Provide fun, positive, and active leadership to campers
- Create a supportive environment where campers can grow, make new friends, and try new activities
- Model problem‑solving, collaboration, and initiative for campers and staff
- Work as an active member of the leadership team to foster teamwork, open communication, positive peer relationships, and support
- Develop, supervise, and facilitate programs in an assigned specialty area using Girl Scout program guidelines
- Maintain knowledge of the schedule, activities, and needs of campers’ programs, acting as the primary facilitator when required
- Oversee campers and staff during group activities, meals, and transitions to and from scheduled events
- Ensure adherence to safety and educational procedures
- Manage program supplies, spaces, and specialty equipment, maintaining a clean camp environment
- Take overall responsibility for the well‑being of campers throughout their camp experience
- Serve as the first‑level advisor for counselors with camper challenges and concerns, providing guidance and advocacy
- Other duties as assigned
