Company/Role Overview:

Clifton Larson Allen  (CLA) Search has been retained by a Manufacturing Client to identify a Controller to serve their team. The Controller is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the financial reporting, compliance, and team leadership. This role requires advanced accounting expertise, strong analytical skills, and a proactive approach to financial management. The ideal candidate will be a hands‑on leader who thrives in a collaborative environment and is committed to continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, and account reconciliations.
  • Manage and mentor the Finance & Accounting team, ensuring timely and accurate financial support across the organization.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow) in accordance with (GAAP).
  • Tax filings, including multi‑state sales tax, Canadian GST/HST, 1099 reporting, and other regulatory submissions.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for operational needs.
  • Strengthen internal controls and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Coordinate with external accountants for corporate income tax filings.
  • Payroll processing and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic planning and decision‑making.

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, (CPA preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership or supervisory roles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft office Suite (hands‑on experience with Acumatica is a big plus).
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time‑management abilities.
  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Experience in tax preparation is a plus.
  • Experience in budgetary process is a plus.
