** Your Role as a Youth Development Coach – First Nations Identified
** In this position you’ll elevate the voices of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island young people providing cultural journey planning including connection to community, culture and country. You’ll empower and advocate young people by:
* Engage with stakeholders to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, including families, Elders, key community members, community agencies and government departments.
* Implement and review culturally safe journey plans with First Nations young people and providing general tenancy information, advocacy and referrals as required.
* Establish connections to Local First Nations organisations which are in line with the objectives of the program and meet identified cultural goals of First Nations young people.
* Actively participate in meetings and training and assist to enhance cultural awareness and capability in the team.
* Regularly participate in reflective practice whilst reviewing professional identity.
* Assist in building connections and opportunities across Foyer’s service offers available to young people creating pathways including cultural family supports and linkages.
** What We’re Looking For
*** Appropriate cultural understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, culture, and the issues that impact them.
* Experience in establishing and maintaining connections with the First Nations community to enhance young people’s connections to culture, community and country.
* Tertiary qualification in human services or a related field
* A commitment to social justice and community development principles, confidentiality and privacy.
