Field Maintenance Technician

American Water is seeking a union Field Maintenance Technician to perform field inspections, water meter installation, and customer service on a Monday–Friday schedule. This hourly union position starts at $31.30 per hour and offers a comprehensive benefits package including a 401(k), health, dental, vision, disability, paid time off, and employee stock purchase plan.

• Perform field inspections, locate pipes, perform b-box and valve insertion, leak detection, and water meter installation.
• Flush fire hydrants, perform sewer jet cleaning, vacuum, and heavy equipment operations such as dump trucks and water pumps.
• Provide high level customer service, complete paperwork, and investigate issues in accurate and timely manner.
• Maintain equipment in safe operating condition and use line locators, pressure gauges, augers, and other field equipment.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Class A CDL with air‑break endorsement (tanker endorsement preferred).
• Ability to read, install, and test water meters.
• Basic computer & field laptop proficiency.
• Physical ability to perform manual labor, lift up to 50 lbs, work overtime when required.
