Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist with field work using Trimble Handheld GPS and Terrasync software to capture and authenticate various municipal infrastructure including Transportation and Parks assets. Extract attribute data from engineering and building drawings or inspection notes. Edit ESRI geodatabase feature datasets, shapefiles and tables.

Map layout creation for all City departments.

Scan and digitize engineering records.

Conduct data gap analysis between GIS datasets and the Asset Management System Other office/field duties within the Engineering Department may be assigned, as required.

Qualifications:

Must be pursuing a post-secondary education in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Urban Planning, Environmental Design and Planning or equivalent.

Experience using Esri products including ArcGIS Desktop and extensions, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online is required.

Knowledge of GPS data collection principles and/or experience reading civil engineering drawings would be an asset.

Knowledge and understanding of municipal asset management systems would be considered an asset.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, planning and organization skills.

High attention to detail and data entry are essential.

A valid Ontario driver’s license (minimum Class G), in good standing and reliable vehicle.

Working Conditions:

35-hour work week, Monday to Friday.

Municipal office conditions, subject to frequent interruptions responding to staff inquiries.

Occasional work outside in all weather conditions.

Usage of personal vehicle may be required depending on availability of City vehicles.
