Principal Accountabilities

Packs quality jars of Claussen product at the Standard Pack Rate and/or line rates using the correct pack method. Packing Whole Pickle, Icicle, Mini Dills, Sandwich Slices, Super Slices, Chips, and Spears in 20 oz. jars, 24 oz jars, 32 oz jars, 750 ml jars, Five Gallon Pails, 64 oz jars and 80 oz jars.
  • Understands product specifications and informs Supervisor of Pickle Quality Problems.
  • Serves as the final inspection of cucumbers to be packed.
  • Inspects glass and plastic jars for defects.
  • When production down time occurs, stacks jars on carts or skids.
  • Reworks pallets of product placed on hold by Production/Quality Assurance Department, sorting reworkable jars, correcting the defect and returning them to the production line.
  • The following duties may be performed when instructed by a supervisor
Make-up knocked down boxes, spicing, adding or removing empty jars to/from the line, adding boxes to the conveyor, top cutting of halves product when required, jar inspections for various reasons (leakers, floaters and other packaging defects), feed pickles into the Spear or Auto packaging machines, topping off jars of Chips or Whole Pickle, putting labels/bands on

Gallon line jars, inserting coupons into jars when required.
  • May be required to collect record and analyze from specific process. Responsible for completing HACCP and process checks as required.
  • Informs the Supervisor/mechanical Department of mechanical or safety problems that arise within their work area. Must follow all safety and GMP rules at all times.
  • May also perform additional miscellaneous duties as directed by the Supervisor. May perform the job of Production Grader.
  • Required to enter, accumulate and evaluate data used in the HMI OEE terminals. This may require working on teams to help improve production processes.
SCOPE OF PROGRAMS AND OPERATIONS

100% eye control needed to pack quality product free of pickle defects and foreign objects. Must be able to pack at standard rate of rate line. Must be able to pack moving jars on our machine lines as normal rates based on product quality and sizing.

Must have the ability to read and write in English and Spanish. Must be responsive to changing conditions in quality/sizing and be able to adjust to these changes. Must have good eye hand coordination. Packing task are repetitive and depending on mix some pounding required. Exerts force of 5 lb. or less - 100% of time. Low to medium degree of mental demand needed to do job based on experience and quality conditions.

Job seldom requires direction own work. Supervisory decisions are not required. Loss of materials and equipment up to $110.00 Standing all day, working on wet floors, with pickles on floor. Temperature between 50-80 degrees. Hearing protection required. Minimal but occasional draft in areas. Work around pickle debris. Work around constant brine odor. Handle wet pickles. Repitive lifting of jars. Occasional lifting of 25-50 lb.
