Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education SPED Teacher to join our team in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. As a SPED Teacher, you will be responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities, ensuring that they have equal access to education and opportunities for academic and social growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities, in collaboration with parents, school staff, and other professionals - Provide direct instruction to students with disabilities, using evidence-based teaching strategies and accommodations to meet their individual needs - Monitor and track student progress, and make necessary adjustments to instruction and accommodations to ensure academic growth and success - Collaborate with general education teachers to support the inclusion of students with disabilities in the general education classroom - Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers to provide updates on student progress and discuss any concerns or needs - Attend and participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, and professional development opportunities - Maintain accurate and organized records of student progress, attendance, and behavior - Stay current with best practices and developments in special education, and implement them in the classroom
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field - Valid SPED teaching license in Rhode Island - Experience working with students with disabilities, preferably in a school setting - Knowledge of special education laws and regulations - Strong communication and collaboration skills - Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners - Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with students with disabilities - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Willingness to learn and implement new strategies and techniques in the classroom We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, as well as ongoing professional development opportunities.
