The courses, learning activities, and resources provided to you in our pharmacy technician training program are designed to give you foundational and advanced knowledge, skills, and on-the-job experiences you need to prepare to become a certified pharmacy technician.

• Assists the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state and federal regulations. Supports the pharmacist in performing Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
• Uses pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, processes prescriptions, and assists pharmacy technicians and cashiers with pharmacy systems and cash registers.
• Models and delivers a distinctive and delightful customer experience.

• Engages customers and patients by greeting them, offering assistance with products and services, and resolving customer issues to ensure a positive customer experience.
• Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members.
• Develops strong relationships with most valuable customers.

• Assists in the practice of pharmacy under the supervision of the pharmacist, complying with state, federal, and company policy.
• Performs duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist including entering patient data, filling prescriptions, verifying medicine, and checking interactions.
• Reports prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist and adheres to Company policies.
• Registers sales on the cash register, handles cash, and assists customers in locating products.
• Handles telephone calls requiring pharmacist attention and processes manual claims for third-party program prescription services.
• Supports inventory management activities, orders, and storage of pharmaceuticals, and files claims for overages and shortages.
• Assists pharmacist in administering clinical services and coordinates with Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
• Maintains relationships with local medical community and participates in outreach activities.
• Maintains a clean, organized Pharmacy Department and complies with company policies.
• Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

• Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated training program.
• Attends required training and acquires continuing education credits.

• Fluent reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

• Six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Strong math skills for accurate prescription filling.
• Strong computer skills.
• Knowledge of store inventory control.
• PTCB certification.
