The Registered Nurse delivers safe patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN provides direct patient care within the scope of practice, directs and guides patient/family teaching, and oversees activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of care in the Birthplace. The RN responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or treatment response, ensures a safe environment for patients and visitors, and utilizes the chain of command when necessary to protect patient well‑being, particularly newborns and mothers during the antepartum and postpartum periods.

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire and maintained.
• ACLS certification within 90 days of hire and maintained.
• NRP certification within 90 days of hire and maintained.
• Basic fetal monitoring within 60 days of hire and maintained.
• AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certificate within 12 months.
• AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certificate preferred.
• STABLE preferred.
