Job Description

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders invites applications for a 9‑month tenure‑track position at the level of Assistant Professor, beginning in August 2026, pending final administrative approval. Our undergraduate‑only program provides numerous experiential learning opportunities for students. All majors complete a mentored research project over three semesters and a minimum of four semesters of practicum in the College’s Freed lander Speech and Hearing Clinic.

An ideal candidate is passionate about mentoring undergraduate students in research endeavors and excited about introducing students to both the professions and inquiry across disciplines in an arts and sciences context. We will consider candidates with expertise in either Audiology or Speech‑Language Pathology that complements current faculty expertise.

Responsibilities
  • Teach courses in Audiology, Auditory Rehabilitation, Speech and Hearing Science, Introduction to Communication Sciences and Disorders, or Anatomy and Physiology of the Speech Mechanism, and develop new courses in areas such as disability or sign language.
  • Teach First‑Year Seminar.
  • Advise junior and senior research projects in the College’s Independent Study program.
  • Supervise undergraduates in the Freed lander Speech and Hearing Clinic (as opportunities arise).
  • Assume a teaching load of 5.5 courses per year, including credited mentoring for independent study projects.
Qualifications
  • Earned research doctorate preferred; strong ABD candidates considered.
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC‑A or CCC‑SLP) required.
  • Commitment to inclusive, student‑centered pedagogy.
