Quality Tech Job Description Summary
- Must have a minimum of 2-4 years' experience in quality assurance manufacturing environment
- SPC experience
- Measuring equipment experience including the use of CMM, optical comparator and contour tracer
Performs inspections, measurements and tests on incoming materials, in-process and finished products to insure quality requirements are being met and processes are operating in control throughout the manufacturing process.
- General
- Performs inspections, measurements and tests on product and processes at various stages within the manufacturing process (machining and/or forging), including at setup, to determine product and/or material conformance to requirements and specifications.
- Collects samples for testing, inspection and measurement
- Perform and conduct material and metallurgical testing
- Preparation of metallurgical reports
- Reads, analyzes and uses drawings and blueprints, sample data and other materials in order to determine conformance to requirements of processes, materials and products
- Setup and use various types of inspection and measurement equipment to validate product and process conformance to requirements and specifications
- Notifies supervisor or specified personnel of product or process deviations from specifications or requirements
- Affixes stamps, tags, labels to the appropriate containers or pallets to identify product inspection or acceptability status as necessary
- Routes nonconforming materials to containment area or to sorting/inspection
- Records inspection, measurement and test data on designated forms, documents or computer information systems
- Observes, monitors, and audits production operations processes, operators, part certifiers and equipment to insure proper use of test and measurement equipment and that required work instructions, procedures and processes are being adhered to.
- Review certificates of compliance and other test reports on gauges, materials and products to determine validity
- Performs inspections, measurements and tests on product and processes at various stages within the manufacturing process (machining and/or forging), including at setup, to determine product and/or material conformance to requirements and specifications.

- Production Print/Drawing controls
- First piece forms
- Support
- Assist Calibration Technician as needed with calibrations and repairs.
- Assists in or performs systems, process, product and supplier audits
- Trains or assist in training others in proper use of inspection, test or measurement equipment
- Trains or assists in training others in inspection or quality control procedures, work instructions, processes or visual acceptance criteria
- Assists in developing and implementing various inspection and test processes for determining the acceptability of raw materials, semi-finished and finished products
- Participates in various cross-functional teams as the quality representative. Involved in continual improvement activities
- Assists in performing GR&R studies
- High School diploma or GED
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment. Ability to work well with others
- Demonstrated problem solving and root cause analysis skills
- Handle multiple issues at one time. Ability to plan, prioritize and stay organized
- Strong mechanical inspection background
- GD&T proficient
- SPC knowledge and use of SPC software (Mini-tab/Measur Link)
- Strong math skills
- Ability to plan, prioritize and stay organized
- Able to stand for extended periods of time
- Able to bend and pick up parts.
- Able to hold heavy parts (up to 10 pounds) to be measured.
- Good eyesight (20-20 or corrected)
- Good powers of observation
- Office equipment usage
- MS Office
- Must be shift flexible (Willing to work weekends)
- Ability to work well with others
- Good attendance
- Negative pre-employment and random drug test
