Seaman Corporation is seeking a Quality Control Lab Technician to join our Operations team on Night shift! This position will report to the Quality Control Supervisor in Wooster, OH.

Schedule Transition

As of February 1, 2026, we will transition to a 24/7 rotation with a 4:3 schedule. Must be able to work within that schedule. Day shift will be 7a-7p; night shift will be 7p-7a.

Position Summary

The Quality Control Lab Technician will be responsible for the safe, smooth, and efficient operation of the QC Lab during shift. Test and inspect materials at various stages of the production process to ensure end product meets or exceeds customer requirements. The Technician will assist and take direction from the QC Supervisor to ensure all areas of responsibility run efficiently. The Technician will train on 3rd Shift before our organization transition.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Promote safety and safety awareness by following posted safety and security procedures; perform STOP audits at a minimum of 1 per month in order to document and report unsafe conditions and/or associate actions; must respond quickly to emergencies to prevent injury and damage to personnel and equipment; ensure standard operating procedures are followed, monitored; ensure adherence to company policy and regulations.
  • Have a good understanding of standard product fabrics; comprehend and interpret product specifications; compile reports and evaluate statistical data to ensure quality and product reliability, using experience and intuition.
  • Perform and verify physical testing of product at specified stages in the production process, such as adhesions, fusion, peel, fire retardant (FR), deadload, tear, weights, width, thickness, gloss, certification testing, hydrostatic, infra-red (IR) wavelength, etc.; safely use Die Press, Hot Air Welder, Thwing Albert Machine, Fire Retardant Chamber, Varian Machine, and Radio Frequency Welder to perform standard product testing; coordinate and complete Corporate Quality Control Testing requirements, i.e., hydrostatic resistance, puncture, abrasion resistance, color, blocking, mildew, opacity, etc.
  • Alert appropriate Line personnel of test results in a timely manner; notify supervisor promptly of unresolved problems or when testing equipment malfunctions occur.
  • Maintain quality control documentation; interpret shipping priority list and coordinate daily product testing; work efficiently with Inspection and Shipping Departments to handle special orders and instructions and ensure timely shipment of product to customer.
