2nd Shift General Labor

Welch Packaging is seeking a 2nd Shift General Labor to join their team. Headquartered in Elkhart, IN, Welch Packaging was started in 1985 with four employees and has since become one of the most dynamic independent packaging companies in the United States.

Responsibilities include:

• Following all safety procedures associated with machine centers
• Operating machines safely and productively
• Preparing bottom and top sheets for units and printing load tags
• Unitizing products per customer specification
• Participating in quality checks
• Working at a pace set by the machine operator to achieve conformance to production schedules
• Reading and following shop order instructions
• Troubleshooting problems throughout production runs
• Complying with company policies and procedures
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and housekeeping in the work area

Requirements include:

• Previous experience in a manufacturing/production environment
• Proven ability to work safely, adhering to all safety processes and policies
• Ability to work a flexible schedule on occasion to support operational and business needs
• Ability to work individually or in a collaborative, team-oriented environment

Physical demands of the job include standing, walking, and communicating with team members for extended periods. The employee must regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds. The work environment is usually loud, with exposure to moving mechanical parts, ambient temperatures, and occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
