Description Are you fun, creative, and able to coordinate and plan programming for school aged children? Are you a team player and enjoy creating a fun, safe atmosphere for children to learn and play? If so, we would love for you to apply and join our School's Out team at the Central Community Branch YMCA!
Under the supervision of the Director of Child Care Services
, the Out of School Time Activity Leader supervises a group of children and program activities in accordance with all policies, procedures, and standards as established by the law or the Y.
- Supervise a group of children and program activities.
- Follow all policies, procedures, and standards as established by the law or the Y (e.g., safety or emergency procedures, behavior guidance strategies, child abuse prevention policies); maintain the program site, equipment; and required program records.
- Nurture children through purposeful programming; plan activities that are developmentally appropriate, culturally relevant, and consistent with the Y's values.
- Create a positive rapport with youth; model relationship-building skills in interactions.
- Provide opportunities for youth to lead, problem-solve, and make decisions; provide daily opportunities for reflection on experiences.
- Provide and welcome ongoing dialogue with parents and caregivers about child needs and progress; connect families to the Y.
- Present a professional image, maintain neat appearance, positive manner, dependable attendance, and act as a role model for children, families and staff.
- Attend and participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and trainings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
- Previous experience working with children (at least 6 months) required.
- Meets minimum age standards as established by state law and/or the Y.
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required; or within 60 days of hire.
- Child Abuse Prevention training required within 30 days of hire.
- Previous experience working with diverse populations preferred.
- Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday from 2:00pm to 6:00pm.
Job Type: Part-Time
Pay: $16.00/hr
Plus, access to YMCA facilities for all YMCA employees and Sick Leave.
