General Statement

Instructors will teach course(s) within a specific discipline to a diverse student population at our Main campus dental clinic/skills labs and clinical sites in our service area. Responsibilities will include instructional preparation, assessment of student performance and assistance to students.

The Dental Hygiene Clinical Instructor is responsible for supervising and evaluating first and second-year students in clinical learning experiences during the fall, spring and summer semesters. The Dental Hygiene Clinical Instructors are responsible for dental hygiene clinical instruction involving the implementation and evaluation of the dental hygiene process of care including the evaluation of clinical skills and all clinical procedures. Student assessment includes the utilization of web-based online clinical evaluation systems.

Participation in biannual faculty in-services involving calibration of clinical teaching will be required in addition to working clinical hours.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Registered dental hygienist with a current Massachusetts Dental Hygiene License.
  • Graduate of an accredited dental hygiene program.
  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in dental hygiene or closely related field.
  • Current Massachusetts Local Anesthesia Permit L with extensive background with administering local anesthesia for pain management in provision of comprehensive patient care.
  • Extensive clinical experience in dental hygiene.
  • Sound knowledge of the current periodontal assessment guidelines (AAP).
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Possesses experience with dental practice management software along with strong computer skills.
  • Experience utilizing digital radiography and computerized dental management software.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in dental hygiene or related field preferred.
  • Active member of the American Dental Hygienists' Association
  • Instructional experience in a dental hygiene clinical setting.
  • Experience using Tal Eval academic software to assess/evaluate student performance.
  • Experience with Eaglesoft software.
  • Teaching/training experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity in the curriculum as appropriate.
