Job Description Summary

The Humanities and Arts Department at Worcester Polytechnic Institute seeks a part-time adjunct Philosophy faculty member to teach "Philosophy 2716:
Gender, Race, and Class" from October 20 to December 12, 2025, on Monday and Thursday afternoons. The course examines categories used to identify social differences, such as gender, race, class, sexuality, ability, and species. Candidates should have a PhD (or ABD) in Philosophy, Women Studies, Gender Studies, Critical Race Theory, or related fields.

Responsibilities

WPI’s Philosophy and Religion faculty teach introductory courses, thematic surveys, and advanced seminars. The program emphasizes social justice, environmental philosophy, underrepresented traditions including feminism, critical race theory, non-Western worldviews, and studies of science, technology, and ethics. Candidates should demonstrate teaching excellence, versatility, and the ability to adapt to existing curricula with creative pedagogical approaches.
