Assistant/Associate Director, Center for Inclusive Excellence in Teaching
The College of the Holy Cross invites applications for a motivated, creative Assistant/Associate Director of the newly launched Center for Inclusive Excellence in Teaching (CIET), with the term to begin on July 1, 2026. As a valued member of our team, the Assistant/Associate Director will have the opportunity to develop dynamic programs that empower educators and students, and contribute to a collaborative initiative that partners across the college to foster educational experiences where all learners can flourish.
CIET engages with faculty across the Holy Cross community to enhance innovative teaching practices, support pedagogical inquiry, and promote reflective pedagogical approaches that are grounded in the scholarship of teaching and learning. Through cross‑disciplinary dialogue and exchange, CIET facilitates the exploration of evidence‑based practices and curricular design to advance intellectually rigorous and inclusive learning.
Reporting to the Director, the Assistant/Associate Director will develop and facilitate innovative workshops, cohort programs, faculty learning communities, and other initiatives to advance excellence in inclusive teaching and evidence‑informed course design. The Assistant/Associate Director will have the opportunity to collaborate with CIET's campus partners, including the Division of Justice, Equity, Belonging, and Identity; the Donelan Office of Community‑Based Learning, Teaching, and Engaged Scholarship;
and the Center for Writing.
As part of their ongoing professional practice, the successful candidate will teach one course per year, in consultation with the director.
The level of appointment (Assistant or Associate) of the successful candidate will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position offers full benefits and a starting salary in the range of $90,000 – $110,000.
Roles and Responsibilities- Design and lead professional development programs in inclusive pedagogy, including workshops, faculty learning communities, cohort programs, course design institutes, and invited speaker programs.
- Facilitate dialogues and build faculty community to explore opportunities for enhancing student‑centered learning and inclusive curricular development.
- Develop and disseminate pedagogical resources for various disciplinary and interdisciplinary audiences.
- Provide support for faculty, departments, and campus partners through consultations and collaborations.
- Contribute toward the ongoing assessment of programs and collection of data to inform program impact and iterative improvement.
- Contribute to strategic planning for the Center for Inclusive Excellence in Teaching, and gather data to inform CIET's impact and continual development.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of, and updates to, the Center's websites.
- Collaborate with the Director on the monthly Center newsletter and other Center communications.
- PhD or equivalent terminal degree in any academic discipline.
- 3 – 5 years of experience in a Center for teaching and learning or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusive excellence, as evidenced by a record of success implementing and/or supervising inclusive excellence programs and initiatives with faculty.
- Teaching experience at the college or university level.
- Demonstrable professional and pedagogical commitment to equity, and a passion for cultivating a vibrant, inclusive teaching and learning community.
- Commitment to the College's mission statement and to critical engagement with the College's Jesuit and Catholic heritage.
- Appreciation and understanding of faculty and student culture at a small, residential liberal arts college.
- Demonstrable understanding of research‑informed practices of inclusive pedagogy, course design/development, and assessment, and the application of this knowledge toward the development of faculty workshops and programs.
