Bridge Inspection Team Leader - Senior Structural Engineer

Overview

This role offers a unique opportunity for individual new to people leadership to grow as a Team Leader while contributing to projects that shape communities. You’ll work collaboratively with a team of experts on bridge, tunnel, and ancillary inspections.

• Lead a cross‑functional team on bridge, tunnel, and ancillary inspections.
• Perform professional structural engineering work and inspections.
• Assist in the preparation of bridge and tunnel load ratings and develop plans/sketches using AutoCAD.
• Execute project work on multiple concurrent projects with engineers, architects, planners, and scientific professionals.
• Provide guidance and training to entry‑level engineers.
• Support cost proposal preparation and scope of work documents.
• Maintain current knowledge of structural engineering techniques and practice.
• Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
• 7–10 years of experience in bridge, tunnel, or ancillary inspection/design or other infrastructure work.
• Engineer in Training Certification (PE Preferred).
• Proficient in structural engineering principles, design, and project work practices.
• Strong interest in structures, transportation, or related fields with a desire to advance within WSP.
• Physically capable of continuous field work, including working at heights, in close quarters, and in adverse weather.
• Potential to work 50% field and 50% office.
• Valid Driver’s License and successful Motor Vehicle Record check.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non‑engineering audiences.
• Ability to work independently and provide junior team guidance.
• Advanced proficiency in technical writing, office automation, spreadsheets, and technology.
• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
• Track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to health, safety, and drug/alcohol policies.
• Flexible schedule to meet project requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
• Occasional travel, including overnight stays, may be required.

• Professional Engineer Certification.
• Proficient AutoCAD skills.
• Active participation in local professional practice organizations.
• Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.

Expected salary range: $103,500 – $175,230 for all locations.
