Early Career Geotechnical Engineer
WSP is seeking an Early Career Geotechnical Engineer to join our Geotechnical and Tunneling team. This role may be based in one of several offices including Boston, MA;
North Providence, RI;
Glastonbury, CT;
Worcester, MA;
Shelton, CT, and other New England locations.
- Perform field observation and special inspections of subsurface investigations in soils and rock.
- Assist in the design and analyses of geotechnical engineering for bridges, buildings, tunnels, underground structures, and retaining walls under minimal supervision.
- Prepare or draft geotechnical memoranda, data reports and design reports.
- Perform field observation and special inspections of geotechnical construction.
- Assist task leaders in preparation of reports and contract documents.
- Collaborate with other disciplines and project partners.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Geotechnical or Tunneling Engineering, or a closely related field.
- 0‑3 years of relevant experience.
- Proven knowledge of geotechnical engineering and working knowledge of related disciplines (Structures, Civil, and/or Environmental).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, discipline‑specific design software (e.g., Micro Station, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Geo Slope, Plaxis, etc.).
- Ability to travel and perform field work.
- Must successfully complete WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
- Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.
- Commitment to workplace safety and health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Engineer in Training certification.
- Prior design or construction experience of highway, bridge, building, and underground projects.
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
- Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training.
- Active participation in local professional practice organizations.
