Overview
Job Summary Serve as Site EHS officer to support new biomanufacturing facility startup efforts at Worcester, Massachusetts including review facility design from EHS perspectives and oversee construction activities to ensure design and construction meet federal, State, and local safety compliance regulation. This position will be responsible for checking construction contractor/subcontractor safety program, hosting daily morning site EHS walkthrough, and reporting safety status report.
He or she will also participate and/or lead the site EHS documentation and system development, implementation, and enforcement to ensure site safety compliance from environmental, health and safety perspective against US Federial and State safety regulation.

- General safety advocate for the facility, ensuring all that the enter the facility understand the safety issues at the site, as they vary in time, and stock the facility with appropriate safety gear and phone numbers for support should an event occur.
- Interface with not only site staff but also local and federal government officials and collaborate with other WuXi EHS leaders to ensure the site has developed the latest standards and requirements in all aspects of EHS.
- Identify potential facility construction and lab/manufacturing operation risks. Facilitate the risk mitigation development to eliminate or minimize the safety risks and the impact on the facility operations. Be able to respond to safety emergencies, and to conduct EHS incident/near miss investigation and CAPA implementation.
- Serve as SME (subject matter expert) in the areas of facility safety, industrial hygiene, and occupational safety to assist in hazard identification, hazard evaluation, and the control development to maintain the facility safety for initial construction phase and later operation after facility open for operation.
- Author and implement EHS SOPs and procedures. Provide employee training.
- Develop and enforce organization environment, safety and health programs in compliance with all relevant local, state and Federal regulations and guidelines and industry best practices.
- Examples of programs include Lockout / Tagout, Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, Confined Space Entry, Emergency Action, Fire Prevention, Exposure Control, Waste Minimization, Waste Management, Contingency Planning, Biologic Safety, etc.
- Minimally Bachelor degree in discipline areas involved in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene is preferred). Professional certification such as Registered Biosafety Professional or certified Biological Safety Professional is desirable.
- EHS working experience in Biopharmaceutical industry is desired.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and other Federal, State and Local EHS regulations.
- Good communication and coordination skill. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to establish working relationships with diverse groups.
- Must be able to work in construction area and wear construction related appropriate PPE
- Must be able to work in BSL 1-2 Lab/manufacturing setting with Biohazards /various Chemicals and wear Lab/manufacturing clean room related appropriate PPE
- Must be able to work in environment with variable noise levels
- Ability to stand /Sit/walk for long periods of time
- Ability to Lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally
The anticipated salary range for this position is $75,000-$125,000
