Position Summary
The Energy Grants Analyst role at Worcester Community Action Council (WCAC) involves overseeing financial operations within the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) and Energy Departments. The analyst manages budgets, approves expenditures, ensures accurate receivables, and handles timely payment of invoices. Monthly financial reports are produced, results analyzed, and findings presented to Energy managers and the Chief Financial Officer.
Responsibilities- Oversee financial operations within the Fuel Assistance and Energy Departments.
- Manage budgets, approve expenditures, and ensure accurate receivables.
- Handle timely payment of invoices and maintain financial accuracy.
- Produce monthly financial reports and analyze results.
- Meet regularly with Energy managers and the Chief Financial Officer to review financial performance.
- Train and assist agency finance and program staff in finance policy and procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance/business with 5‑7 years relevant experience.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and analyze financial processes and systems.
- Experience with accounting software such as Abila MIP and other software; working knowledge of Excel.
- Effective communication skills in writing and verbal interactions with WCAC staff and external agencies.
- Knowledge of government grant/contract compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of foundation and private grant procedures preferred.
- Understanding of accounts receivable and other accounting operations preferred.
