Surgical Tech, Medical Assistant
Under the direction of the RN circulator as dictated by the standards in the Medicare Conditions of Participation for surgical services, the Surgical Technologist assists surgical teams during operative procedures by scrubbing for all physicians in assigned services. The role involves arranging and inventorying sterile set up for operations, assisting in preparing, moving and positioning patients, performing sterile scrub procedures, passing instruments, sutures, sponges and supplies in accordance with hospital policy, and participating in the turnover of operating rooms.

Position Qualifications License/Certification/Education- Successful completion of an accredited school of surgical technology having obtained the required surgical technologist certification as of the date of hire.
- All Surgical Technologist Certified employees will have obtained a surgical technologist credential administered by a nationally recognized surgical technologist certifying body accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies and recognized by the American College of Surgeons and the Association of Surgical Technologists.
- Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification every two years; maintains AST membership, required educational units and AST certification.
- Thorough knowledge of a specialized and technical field of Surgical Technology.
