Senior Physiotherapist – Worcester Community Team

We are looking for an experienced Physiotherapist to join the Worcester City neighbourhood team for a 9‑month fixed‑term contract covering maternity leave. This role is ideal for physiotherapists interested in developing their career and skills in a community setting.

Working hours:

07:30–18:30 on weekdays (Monday to Friday 08:00–17:00, with flexibility). Band 6 hours available, with a separate band 5 advertised.

The successful candidate will work autonomously within a supportive team that values independence and offers assistance and guidance as needed. Induction support will help you become confident in the community rehabilitation setting.

• Deliver high‑standard physiotherapy assessment and treatment to patients in their own homes.
• Provide advice on rehabilitation management to patients, families, carers and other members of the MDT.
• Manage your caseload, ensuring patient‑centred goals, rehabilitation plans and follow‑up reviews are in place.
• Triage new referrals as part of the team rota.
• Assess priority patients for the urgent community response initiative and admission avoidance, supporting hospital discharges, trauma and orthopaedic brace management, and domiciliary interventions.
• Treat a wide variety of presentations: falls, orthopaedics, neurological conditions, musculoskeletal and respiratory patients.
• Maintain accurate electronic patient records in line with documentation guidelines.
• Delegate and supervise physiotherapy assistants and students, supporting their development.
• Order and manage safe use of patient equipment.
• Communicate with the wider MDT and general practitioners regarding patient concerns.
• Participate actively in team meetings, clinical audit and service development.

• Degree / diploma in Physiotherapy and HCPC registration.
• Post‑graduate experience across a range of specialties, including community settings.
• Experience in caseload management, prioritisation, and supervision of junior staff or students.
• Evidence of relevant post‑graduate courses and ongoing professional development in a portfolio.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and time‑management skills.
• Knowledge of rehabilitation concepts, evidence‑based practice, IT skills, medication principles, and audit processes.
• Willingness to travel within the region.
