Our Finance Controller team is currently seeking a Statistical Analyst II in our Worcester, MA location. Position is eligible for hybrid/flex work arrangement. This is a full time, exempt role.
POSITION OVERVIEWResponsible for the timely and accurate reporting of detail and aggregate data to external regulatory bodies. Has a solid understanding of all personal and commercial lines of business. Familiar with statistical agencies and has an understanding of the uses for statistical data within the industry, able to interpret external reporting requirements and collaborate with teams to develop a satisfactory solution to a regulatory initiative.
May be asked to share in the workload of a Business Analyst on an as needed basis. Requires limited supervision.
- Perform data reporting tasks in support of one or more line(s) of business with limited scope, i.e., initially assigned to Personal Lines or Commercial Lines to build a foundation on which to expand.
- Report data as required to ISO (Insurance Services Office), NCCI (National Council on Compensation Insurance), NISS (National Independent Statistical Services), MAIB (Massachusetts Automobile Insurance Bureau) and other state agencies according to their published requirements in a timely and accurate manner.
- Prepare manual data submissions as needed.
- Perform necessary data corrections in order to satisfy the regulator's tolerance for error.
- Execute jobs on the mainframe to produce the data to review and validate output.
- Respond to correspondence from regulators and internal customers in a timely and professional manner.
- Stay current with regulatory requirements. Communicates new requirements to the Statistical Business Analysts to assure that any changes impacting processing and reporting systems are addressed appropriately, and participates in project planning from requirements through design, testing, implementation and maintenance for any changes needed to team reporting systems.
- Maintain detailed instructions for all data reports, processes, and data sources.
- Make decisions within identified scope of responsibility.
- Prepare state surcharge reports, initiate payments of surcharges and prepare monthly or quarterly account reconciliations as required by SOX.
- Report data quality issues to the Statistical Business Analysts.
- Seek and/or receive guidance from more experienced personnel.
- May provide technical on-the-job training and guidance to less experienced individuals as needed.
- Identify, evaluate, and implement process improvements.
- Serve as a project team member for projects of medium to large scope and moderate to high complexity.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
- Three to five years of relevant technical or business work experience.
- Strong time management skills.
- Ability to identify anomalies in the data being reported, research and offer input to the resolution.
- Technical expertise with Power BI, Excel, Word, Access, mainframe applications, i.e. WSF, EOS, Easytrieve Plus, PMS.
- Principles of property and casualty insurance products preferred.
- Insurance data reporting and compliance experience preferred.
