This role offers a competitive base pay range of $54,910.00/yr - $65,000.00/yr.
Brief OverviewStore Managers-in-Training (SMiT) are aspiring leaders focused on developing skills to lead team members and ensure operational success. They collaborate with the Store Manager to oversee daily operations, foster high‑performance and engagement, and build a culture of customer focus.
What You Will DoPeople Leadership
- Partner with the Store Manager on talent fundamentals, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, training, development, performance management, termination, culture and engagement.
- Identify capabilities needed to meet store needs and prioritize assignments for Repair Specialists and Technicians.
- Provide regular coaching focused on productivity, quality, NPS, and VAPs.
- Create a rewarding environment that encourages retention; address barriers and work‑related concerns.
Operational Management
- Support execution of annual plans, delegating through the team and ensuring alignment with district direction.
- Quantify business outcomes such as revenue, NPS, job completion rate, time to serve, wiper sales, quality, profitability, COE, and associate retention.
- Manage all aspects of store operations: safety, facility management, inventory, timecard records, and compliance.
- Build a culture prioritizing customer experience and address service metrics.
Internal Collaboration
- Collaboration across organizational boundaries with store managers, warehouse managers, dispatchers, and field service representatives.
- Implement playbook best practices and hold others accountable.
- Perform repairs and recalibrations as needed to meet customer demand.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent practical experience (Preferred)
- 4-6 years of leadership and supervision experience (preferred)
- Ability to work at multiple locations within a district; willingness to travel up to 5%
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and web applications.
- Work from store location; operate company vehicle safely; compliance with PPE requirements.
- Occasionally lift windshields up to 35 pounds.
- Builds trust through intentional relationship building; engages team; fosters inclusive culture.
- Communicates clearly and concisely with empathy; sets expectations and listens actively.
- Continuously assesses talent, coaches, and remains flexible and adaptable.
- Learns Safelite’s business model; makes agile decisions.
- Builds strong customer rapport, delivers exceptional experience, and resolves issues swiftly.
- Executes standard processes to enhance performance; leverages data for problem solving.
- Prioritizes team resources and delegates effectively to achieve results.
