Job Title: Youth and Family Specialist
Pay Range: $51,196 per year
The pay range is the authorized pay for this position and is displayed only for jobs based in Massachusetts and Vermont, where pay transparency laws require disclosure. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
Work Location / Program OverviewService will primarily be delivered in person where the parent/caregivers are residing. It will be important for families to receive services where they are comfortable, which will promote engagement and the opportunity for change. Based on the family’s needs, services may also be delivered in other locations including community-based settings such as public transportation, grocery stores, schools, banks, laundromats, and doctors’ offices.

Position Overview:
As part of our Safe and Stable Family Service, Ascentria will deliver services that assist parents/caregivers with growing their capacity to keep children safe in their homes to either prevent removal or support families after reunification. Motivational interviewing and parent coaching will be utilized to help develop and enhance the Five Protective Factors based on family strengths and individual needs.
Responsibilities- Deliver services in person to support families in their homes and communities.
- Use Motivational Interviewing and parent coaching to develop and enhance the Five Protective Factors.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to connect families to resources and supports.
- MA - Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or a related field with 1-year experience and LSW licensure eligibility
- NH - Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or a related field with 2 years’ experience working with children and/or families
- Ability to work within the Mission of the agency.
- Significant experience working with children with social/emotional/physical problems desirable. Mediation and conflict resolution skills helpful.
- Lived experience relevant to the role is strongly valued and encouraged
- Open to new ideas and desire to grow professionally. Flexibility in thinking and scheduling.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
- Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations, protocols and/or procedures.
- Knowledge of Five Protective Factors framework and its application to family support
- Ability to travel to meet client needs
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
- Ability to use independent judgment and discretion; investigate, analyze and draw professional conclusions.
