We’re now looking for an organised, detail driven Bookkeeper to join our growing team.
The Role
As a Bookkeeper, you will play a key role in supporting a diverse portfolio of clients across Worcester and the surrounding area. You’ll be responsible for accurate, timely bookkeeping services and acts as a trusted point of contact for day to day client queries.
This role would suit someone who enjoys client interaction, thrives in a small business environment, and takes pride in delivering high quality work.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain accurate bookkeeping records for a portfolio of small business clients
* Process purchase and sales invoices, receipts, and payments
* Perform bank, credit card, and control account reconciliations
* Prepare and submit VAT returns
* Assist in the preparation of management accounts
* Maintain digital records in line with Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements
* Liaise directly with clients to obtain information and resolve queries
* Support the wider accounting team as needed during peak periods
* Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal procedures
* Use cloud accounting software such as Xero, Quick Books, and Sage
Skills & Experience Required
* Previous bookkeeping experience within practice or industry
* Strong understanding of double entry bookkeeping
* Confident preparing VAT returns and reconciliations
* Knowledge of cloud accounting software (Xero preferred)
* Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
* Strong communication skills and a client focused approach
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
Desirable:
* AAT Level 2 or above (or working towards)
* Experience working within an accountancy practice
* Understanding of MTD VAT processes
