Job Summary

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) provides specialist mental health support for children and young people with moderate to severe mental health needs. We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Administrator to join our Single Point of Access (SPA) team. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a dedicated and supportive service that plays a vital role in ensuring children, young people, families, and professionals receive timely and appropriate access to CAMHS support.

You will be able to work effectively as part of a team and manage workload.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receiving and processing referrals onto the electronic patient record system
  • Acting as the first point of contact for the SPA service
  • Answering and managing the main SPA telephone line
  • Responding to queries from families, professionals, and partner agencies
  • Providing efficient administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the SPA function
  • Supporting the processing of referrals and enquiries
  • Liaising with clinicians, families, and external agencies
  • Managing data, appointments and record‑keeping with accuracy and confidentiality
  • Contributing to the smooth, effective running of the SPA office
What We're Looking For
  • Previous administrative experience (NHS or similar setting beneficial)
  • Excellent communication, organisational and IT skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment
  • A friendly, professional, and proactive approach
  • Availability to work Thursdays and Fridays every week (days are not flexible)
  • Knowledge of a range of administrative and secretarial procedures and systems
  • Detailed knowledge of Microsoft Packages
  • Understanding of the Data Protection Act and NHS Code of Confidentiality
  • Advanced keyboard skills – touch typing
  • Accuracy, attention to detail and good organisational skills
  • Ability to challenge poor behaviour and role‑model good behaviour
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English (verbal and written)
Qualifications
  • Educated to vocational level 3 in Business Administration (or equivalent qualification or experience)
  • Or educated to vocational level 2 or equivalent qualification, or equivalent NHS administrative experience and will be expected to undertake the relevant level 3 qualification on appointment to post
  • Willingness to commit to continuing professional development
  • Professional manner as a representative of the Trust, tact and discretion for dealing with confidential information, and ability to meet the travel requirements of the role
  • Recent, relevant Administrative/Secretarial experience
  • Blood, dismissing sponsorship constraints: the Trust will not provide sponsorship to work for this role, and employment on a time‑limited visa does not guarantee sponsorship at point of expiry
