Job summary

Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking to
recruit a Consultant Obstetrician. Successful candidates will join a team of
25 substantive consultants. The post will have a special interest in Fetal Medicine. The Directorate provides
services across 3 hospital sites within the county of Worcestershire. The
candidate will benefit from working within a friendly and experienced team of Consultants.

As a Trust we have been actively involved in developing the
training program for students from the Three Counties Medical School based in
Worcester which opened in September 2023. We also have a long-established role in training medical students from the University of Birmingham and undergraduates from the University of Warwick.

Main duties of the jobThis is a full-time Consultant appointment in Obstetrics, with a specialist interest in fetal medicine.

The post holder will work collaboratively with Consultant colleagues across the Trust and will undertake clinical sessions at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, the Alexandra Hospital, Redditch, and the Kidderminster Treatment Centre. General outpatient clinics will be delivered across all main sites and selected community hospitals.

The successful applicant will be asked to work as the fetal medicine and Obstetric Governance lead and develop the local service in line with both local, regional and National requirements. They will work closely alongside the Governance team, and other members of the MDT, to ensure quality assurance standards are being met, guidelines are up to date, national audits are completed and they have oversight of complaints, incidents and any actions that are identified.

The successful applicant will participate in regular clinical meetings, post-graduate activities and maintain continuing medical education, in accordance with the requirements of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and General Medical Council. The post-holder will ensure their own practice is up to date and they support the principles of revalidation by the GMC. They will also be expected to support less experienced junior colleagues in the development of their skills both within an elective and emergency setting.
