Job Title and Summary

Emmaus Catholic Multi Academy Company is recruiting a temporary Level 1 Teaching Assistant for a child in Year 2 with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The role starts September 2026 and involves providing 1:1 adult support to sustain attention, follow instructions, and engage with learning tasks in collaboration with the class teacher and SENCo. The position is full time, 5 days a week, 25 hours per week, 39 weeks (including training days).

Salary is Grade 2 SCP 3 (£24,796.00) FTE AYR – pro rata, falling between £14,462.47 and £14,789.57 per annum.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consistent 1:1 adult support to a Year 2 child with an EHCP, ensuring attention and task completion.
  • Use structured prompting and break learning into manageable steps to support understanding of task expectations.
  • Support the child during all adult‑led activities and key transition points, providing ongoing prompting to maintain engagement.
  • Collaborate closely with the class teacher and SENCo to deliver the child’s educational plan.
  • Assist with educational activities that promote the school’s values of inclusivity, compassion and academic excellence.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Experience working with children who have an EHCP or similar support needs is desirable.
  • Ability to provide documentation to prove right to work in the UK.
  • Subject to an Enhanced Disclosure check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
