Flourish Education are currently recruiting English Graduates with a UK university degree and a good understanding of the UK Secondary English curriculum to work as Teaching Assistants, English Intervention Tutors and Cover Supervisors within secondary schools across Worcester and the surrounding areas.

Alternatively, you may be looking for a part-time or flexible role working with young people where you can put your English degree and subject knowledge to good use.
We are looking for enthusiastic English Graduates to support pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4. The role could involve supporting pupils individually or in small groups, delivering English interventions, helping with GCSE revision or providing additional support to pupils who need help with particular areas of the English curriculum.
With part-time, flexible and longer-term opportunities available, this role is ideal for graduates who want to gain valuable secondary school experience while maintaining flexibility around their other commitments.
This is also an excellent opportunity for graduates who are considering teacher training or a career in education and want to gain first-hand experience of working within a secondary school environment.
The role will involve:
- Providing one-to-one English support
- Working with small groups of pupils
- Delivering targeted English interventions
- Supporting KS3 and KS4 pupils
- Supporting GCSE English revision and booster sessions
- Helping pupils prepare for GCSE examinations
- Supporting pupils with reading and comprehension
- Supporting pupils with written communication and extended writing
- Helping pupils develop confidence and engagement in English
- Supporting pupils who have gaps in their subject knowledge
- Supporting pupils with SEN and additional learning needs
- Helping pupils develop their literacy and communication skills
- Making complex English concepts accessible to pupils
- Working alongside English teachers and wider school staff
- Building positive relationships with pupils
- Providing whole-class cover where required
Required Skills and Experience for this English Graduate Teaching Assistant role:
- English degree or closely related subject from a UK university
- Ideally a 2:1 degree or above, although graduates with other degree classifications will also be considered
- Strong understanding of the UK Secondary English curriculum
- Good knowledge of KS3 and KS4 English and GCSE content
- Strong English subject knowledge
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to explain English concepts clearly and in an accessible way
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to engage and motivate young people
- Experience working with children or young people is desirable
- Previous school experience is desirable
- Experience supporting pupils with SEN is desirable
- Patient, positive and enthusiastic approach
- Professional and reliable approach
- Flexible approach to working hours
- Interest in education, teaching or working with young people is desirable
Working for Flourish Education as a Teaching Assistant, you will receive:
- £92.59 to £100 day rate, which equates to approximately £17,340 to £19,500 per annum based on working 5 days a week for a full school year
