Associate Lecturer PGCE Further Education with FE subject specialism in science

The University of Worcester (UW) has a long-standing reputation for its high quality and innovative provision in Education. As a ‘good’ provider of Initial Teacher Education (ITE) in FES (Ofsted 2023), we are nationally recognised for our overall quality and high sustained employment rates of our trainee teachers.

The PGCE in Further Education was a new programme, launched in September 2020. In this context, the Institute of Education is seeking to appoint an inspirational and excellent Associate Lecturer from the FE sector with a subject specialism in Science.

The successful applicant will have responsibility for contributing to general FE teaching and/or their specialist subject area and for developing an excellent student experience. Applicants will also visit trainees in settings and work with mentors to track trainee progress.

Short-listed candidates will be required, as part of the selection process, to deliver a ten-minute presentation to the interview panel to the following brief:

How would you introduce the key principles of inclusion in an FE classroom in your specialist subject area?

Please plan as if you were going to teach a group of PGCE FE trainee teachers.

Following this presentation, 5 minutes has been allocated for questions about your presentation prior to the formal interview.

NB. If you are successful at interview, you will be invited to join a pool of sessional lecturers and we will contact you if suitable work becomes available. We are not able to guarantee employment as it will be subject to student numbers. The number of hours available might only be a few hours per week.
