Are you an experienced Purchase Ledger professional with a keen eye for detail and a passion for process efficiency?
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Purchase Ledger Assistant to join a Central Finance Team, supporting the smooth and accurate running of our accounts payable function within the business.
About the Role:
As a Purchase Ledger Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring that supplier invoices are processed promptly and accurately, and supporting month-end reporting requirements.
The Purchase Ledger Assistant will also play a key role in maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and internal departments, ensuring all financial records are up to date and in line with group policies.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain multiple purchase ledgers (initially two, with potential for more as the group expands)
* Process supplier invoices accurately
* Match invoices to purchase orders, resolving discrepancies where needed
* Liaise with suppliers to manage and resolve invoice queries in a timely manner
* Perform supplier statement reconciliation's
* Prepare and post BACS and Direct Debit payments
* Assist in creating BACS payment files for approval
* Set up new supplier accounts and maintain supplier data
* Support month-end processes, including accruals and reconciliation's
* Provide internal and external stakeholders with timely and accurate reports
* Provide cover for other purchase ledger team members when needed
* Carry out ad hoc finance tasks as requested
What we’re Looking For:
* Strong understanding of purchase ledger processes
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
* Strong organisational skills and ability to manage high-volume processing
* Proactive communicator and confident liaising with internal teams and external suppliers
* Ability to meet strict month-end deadlines and work well under pressure
