Worcester Royal Hospital is a PFI hospital, the largest of 3 sites providing specialist services for Worcestershire including stroke, cardiac stenting and oncology. The Alexandra Hospital, Redditch serves a population of over 200,000 with over 300 beds supporting elective surgery especially in orthopaedics. This is an exciting time to join the team as services expand with a new ED opened at the beginning of 2024 and we develop our teams in CT, Cardiac and Interventional.

We offer a comprehensive range of services in all areas of general radiography and also NM, CT, MRI, Interventional, cardiac and dexa. Our CT scanners across the county have all been recently replaced with state of the art technology. We are a forward-looking department committed to training and role development. We have advanced practice fluoroscopy radiographers and a large team of reporting radiographers led by a Consultant radiographer.

We are looking for an enthusiastic motivated radiographer with a flexible approach to delivering radiography services keen to develop their skills.

We have a fully shifted 7-day rota & out of hours on-call.

Main duties of the job

To work as a radiographer to a high professional standard providing assistance and guidance to junior staff in order to maintain these standards.

Ensure high quality patient care maintaining patient flow and supporting the day to day running of the department whilst maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

Working in accordance with ionising radiation regulations and in line with other departmental policies and protocols.

Excellent communication skills that foster good working relationships both within and external to the department.

Have a flexible approach towards hours of work.

Job responsibilities

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Clinical and Service Provision

To work independently as a Radiographer to a high professional standard and performing a wide variety of examinations within protocol, ensuring patient safety and providing assistance and guidance to qualified and unqualified staff in order to maintain these standards.

Effectively liaise with multi-disciplinary colleagues, patient and carers as required.

Triage referrals from a variety of sources/manage clinical priorities according to agreed protocols, working practices and KPIs.

Work autonomously to the standard set by the Directorate delivering individualised direct patient care.

Can work within a team and where required lead a small speciality team in order to deliver effective direct patient care, managing workflow and prioritising patients.

Maintain up to date clinical competence and the highest professional standards.

Practice within a risk benefit framework, having regard to the Biological effects of Radiation and IRMER Legislation where appropriate.

Ensure adherence to the pause and check and where required ensure that all generated images are appropriately and correctly labelled in line with trust requirements,

Where appropriate escalate image findings and where necessary carry out additional or adaptation of imaging.

Where there is a requirement, supply administer medicines within the legal framework and associated PGD.
