Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic & compassionate ECT Practitioner at the Grafton Suite in Worcester. Our friendly, multidisciplinary team run electroconvulsive therapy clinics twice a week on Mondays & Thursdays. The post is mainly a clinical role but will also involve administrative duties. It will allow the post holder to deepen their practical and theoretical knowledge into all areas of ECT provision across the clinic.
The post holder will work in partnership with the ECT lead Practitioner to ensure the safe operation of the unit and will deputise in their absence. The post holder will utilise skills & knowledge from both a physical & mental health perspective. Prior work in ECT is required. Local training will be provided & there are opportunities to attend external ECT courses & events.
The post holder will be required to gain a good knowledge of the ECTAS standards for ECT. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic practitioner / nurse who is keen to learn new skills. This is a part time role working 15 hours per week.
Working in partnership with the ECT Team you will be part of a highly motivated team to continue to deliver an excellent service to patients and carers. You will provide clinical support to the ECT Team, working & communicating with all team members. You will provide direct patient care within the ECT clinic. You will facilitate opportunities for patients to benefit from the clinic resources and services.
You will be experienced and confident when leading, developing and motivating a team. Always acting as a role‑model and contributing to the provision of nursing expertise and specialist knowledge. You must be a problem solver with strong critical thinking. You should be motivated to change healthcare outcomes for patients by interpretation of data obtained from audits and able to participate in quality improvement projects in the ECT team.
Based at the Grafton ECT suite in Worcester, you will also work with the Team in theatres in the Acute Trusts providing a service to those patients with very complex physical health needs. A flexible working approach is required. The role is interesting with many different dynamics but challenging. Maintain a disciplined and professional level of performance under sustained or situational pressure.
