Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced podiatrist to join our Health in Justice (HiJ) Musculoskeletal (MSK) team, on a part‑time basis, at HMP Five Wells. This is a category C men’s prison in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. Provide outstanding evidence‑based care, advanced assessment and treatment of patients who may have complex and/or chronic presentations. You will need to determine clinical diagnosis and clinical treatment, maintain records as an autonomous practitioner, assess and treat a range of conditions including diabetic patients, wound management, MSK pathologies and nail surgery, deliver non‑judgemental care, build therapeutic relationships and promote professional boundaries, participate actively in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care following our policies and procedures, inspire excellence in colleagues, motivate the wider team to identify high‑risk patients and forge strong working relationships with the Practice Plus Group healthcare team and the wider Health in Justice Service.
Qualifications& Requirements
- HCPC registration, with proven post‑registration experience of assessing and treating a range of conditions
- Experience in assessing and treating diabetic patients, wound management, MSK pathologies and nail surgery
- Self‑motivated with excellent communication and organisational skills
- Evidence of CPD and work within the MSK speciality
- A non‑judgemental and compassionate approach
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent IT skills in MS Word and Outlook
- Experience of electronic notes systems (not essential but ideal)
- Ability to work as an autonomous practitioner and manage your own caseload and waiting list
- Commitment to providing four sessions per month (16 hours per month)
- Salary between £40,000 and £49,000 pro rata depending on experience
