An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Medical Secretary to join the Trauma & Orthopaedic team at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.
This is a demanding and rewarding role that would suit an individual who thrives in a busy environment, has excellent attention to detail, and can effectively manage a varied workload while meeting service deadlines.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and capable individual to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with both clinical and administrative colleagues to ensure tasks are completed to a high standard, supporting the smooth and efficient running of the service.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a flexible, positive, and proactive approach to work, with the ability to use their own initiative when required. They will possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and IT skills, alongside a strong commitment to delivering high-quality administrative support.

Provide comprehensive senior medical secretarial service to consultants and the wider clinical team.
Transcription of clinical dictation for multiple healthcare professionals, including but not limited to, clinical correspondence, reports, assessments and audits.
Manage waiting lists and ensure compliance with RTT targets. Schedule patients for surgery and maintain theatre lists for Alexandra and Kidderminster sites at least six weeks in advance, ensuring compliance with 642 procedures.
Coordinate loan kit requests, x-ray bookings, and liaise with pre‑op, occupational therapy, HDU and theatres.

Job responsibilitiesThe Medical Secretary provides a comprehensive and advanced secretarial and administrative service to Trauma & Orthopaedic Consultants and their multidisciplinary teams. The role is responsible for supporting the patient pathway from referral through to treatment, including the management of waiting lists, theatre scheduling, clinic coordination, and clinical correspondence.
Working in a busy and demanding environment, the post holder will maintain accurate patient records, manage complex administrative processes, and act as a key point of contact for patients, healthcare professionals, and external agencies. The role requires excellent organisational, communication, and IT skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands while maintaining confidentiality, accuracy, and compliance with NHS policies and procedures.
The successful candidate will contribute to service improvement initiatives, support colleagues across the department, and help ensure the delivery of a safe, efficient, and high‑quality service for patients.
