An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated therapeutic radiographer to join our friendly team as a Specialist Urology Therapeutic Radiographer specialising in prostate radiotherapy.
The role is brand new and will involve working closely with urology clinical oncologists and the multidisciplinary team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting non‑medical outlining of planning volumes.
- Setting up and running pre‑hab clinics for prostate patients.
- Supporting prostate SA role and reviewing post‑treatment patients.
- Maintaining clinical skills with one day of clinical work per week for on‑call duties.
- Undertaking postgraduate study including non‑medical independent prescribing.
This role is a split clinical role across pre‑hab, outlining, post‑review, and clinical duties.
Postgraduate study and non‑medical prescribing are required.
Equipment and facilities:
Ray Station treatment planning, VSim, SGRT installation, Gulmay superficial/orthovoltage unit.
Additional responsibilities: operating radiotherapy equipment safely, contouring of planning images, participating in audit and research projects, acting as resource within the urology team, and supporting the MDT.
Person Specification Experience- Extensive post‑qualification experience with senior capacity using a wide range of techniques including prostate SA .
- Experience of developing and implementing new techniques/protocols.
- Experience with Elekta or Mosaiq.
- Participation in project groups or working parties.
- Experience of research and audit.
- Experience of non‑medical outlining of the prostate for radiotherapy planning.
- BSc Radiotherapy or equivalent.
- HCPC Registration.
- Demonstrable CPD and evidence of learning to improve practice.
- Postgraduate education/qualification in a specialist area.
- Masters level knowledge of routine and highly specialist radiotherapy techniques.
- Ability to communicate complex/sensitive information clearly.
- Good organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Problem‑analysis skills with appropriate action within limited time.
- Effective decision making under pressure.
- Ability to work in emotionally charged environments.
This post requires a DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
