Hours:
Full-time (Equivalent to 37.5 hours a week), in line with our flexible working policy.
Remuneration: £26,227 - £27,000 based on experience
Type of contract: 12 month fixed-term contract (maternity cover)
Location:
Hybrid working. A mix of home and Leukaemia Care offices (at One Birch Court, Blackpole East, Worcester, WR3 8SG
) with a minimum of two days in the office.

Purpose of the roleTo be responsible for managing all grant applications received by patients and their families. This will include those applying for the cost‑of‑living grant, the CAR‑T grant or those seeking support via our counselling service. In addition, provide support to the wider team particularly the Advocacy and Welfare services.
Main duties and responsibilities- Act as first point of contact for all enquiries relating to grant applications
- Process all applications ensuring that documentation meets the eligibility criteria.
- Follow up if applications are incomplete or proof of diagnosis documentation is outstanding.
- Process Leukaemia Care financial grants liaising with the wider Patient Services Team
- Work closely with counsellors, Head of Finance, nurse advisors and Director of Patient Services to ensure patients and their families receive the correct counselling sessions through our counselling grant
- Work closely with the Advocacy Officer to assist in the processing of all new grant applications that come through the CAR T Away from Home Service
- Work closely with the Welfare Officer providing admin and telephone support to patients and their families seeking financial assistance
- Maintain contact with external stakeholders, ensuring they are kept up to date with grant applications (e.g. social workers, counsellors, family and friends and haematology teams)
- Advise and support grant recipients through regular follow up phone calls and emails and signpost to other services where necessary
- Provide additional support to the patient services team including supporting the helpline on a regular basis
- Ensure contacts i.e. grant recipients, are recorded and kept up to date in the Raisers Edge NXT database.
- Signpost to other organisations where more specialist advice is required to ensure the patient gets the most relevant support and information
- Promote grants and counselling service to patients and healthcare professionals caring for patients
- Ensure all details are kept safe in line with the privacy and confidentiality policies in place.
- Provide regular reports on your work and against your KPIs to your line manager.
- This role, from time to time, will involve contributing to the delivery of patient services across the broader team.

PERSON SPECIFICATION Essential- GCSE or equivalent Maths and English.
- Experience of supporting people affected by serious illness, disability or other challenging life circumstances, either within healthcare, the voluntary sector or a similar support environment.
- Demonstrable evidence of excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
- Experience of managing a complex caseload effectively and efficiently.
- Well‑developed telephone skills including active listening and questioning.
- Ability to be calm and deal effectively with challenging or emotional situations and/or people.
