Paediatric Occupational Therapist

Due to significant service investment we are looking for enthusiastic Occupational Therapists to join our friendly Children’s Therapy team in Worcestershire. The successful candidates will be working alongside a dynamic team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Assistant Practitioners and Specialist Play Nursery Nurses providing a community service to children and young people with a variety of needs. The post holders would be based at one of our three bases (located in Kidderminster, Worcester or Bromsgrove) and will be required to travel across the county.

The service works closely with mainstream and special schools, child development centres and family hubs as part of a multi‑disciplinary team to ensure children’s needs are identified and supported across the system. It is an exciting time of service development whilst we move towards implementing the balanced system across therapy services and a link therapy model. We are a fantastic team offering a variety of opportunities for learning, CPD, multi‑disciplinary working and have a strong focus on supervision.

Main

duties of the job

Holding a varied caseload completing OT assessments and interventions based on a sound knowledge of evidence‑based practice and a range of treatment options, including assessment for specialist equipment. Being able to identify children and young peoples OT needs and develop care plans using a goal‑setting approach.

Supervising and supporting other members of the therapy service including technicians and students.

Application of policies and legislation related to children, young people and families including safeguarding children.

Working closely with multi‑disciplinary and multi‑agency colleagues to ensure an integrated approach to patient care. This would include health, social care, and education colleagues.

Having excellent communication and co‑ordination skills. Capturing information detailing children’s needs, provision requirements and expected outcomes to inform their Education, Health and Care Plan.

Qualifications
  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • HCPC registration.
  • I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.
Experience
  • Experience of working in a variety of specialities.
  • Application of the Occupational Therapy process.
  • Use of functional assessment and activity analysis.
