Welcome to Motel

Our story began during a road trip in the 1990s, where our founders, Will and Andy, travelled across America collecting vintage items while living out of motels. They started purchasing vintage clothing in the USA and selling it wholesale, which eventually led to the creation of stores. From there, they began designing reworked vintage pieces, and thus, Motel was born.

Over 30 years and a team of 200+ people later, every piece of clothing we make is created with the same spirit of fun, freedom and adventure as the road trip that first defined the brand. We’re still ambitious and independent, but now we’re a global team - we work from an operational base in Worcester, a design studio in London and a creative studio in Bali.

The Role

At Motel, we’re building a global fashion brand with roots in high-quality, consciously produced collections inspired by vintage design and worn by women all over the world. As we scale, we’re seeking a Talent Partner to join our HR team as our first dedicated recruitment specialist in the UK – owning the end-to-end hiring journey for all UK roles, shaping the way we attract, assess and appoint top-tier talent.

The

Opportunity

As Motel’s Talent Partner, you’ll have the opportunity to design world class processes, embed best practices and elevate our hiring outcomes. You’ll directly impact our growth, culture and success by ensuring we bring in the right people.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities
  • Take full ownership of the recruitment lifecycle for Motel’s UK vacancies (sourcing, screening, interviewing, selection, offer and onboarding)

  • Design and build simple, scalable hiring processes that balance speed, quality, and candidate experience

  • Coach and upskill hiring managers on interview best practices, inclusive hiring techniques and candidate assessment frameworks

  • Work with the existing People & Potential (HR) team to embed recruitment best practices, where necessary, to improve process quality and help them get time back

  • Elevate the candidate experience wherever possible through timely communication, consistent feedback, efficient scheduling and brand-aligned touchpoints

  • Investigate proactive sourcing methods to open talent pools for Motel

  • Manage relationships with external recruitment agencies when applicable, ensuring they align with our brand, culture, hiring priorities and cost expectations

  • Build and maintain talent pipelines for recurring and business-critical roles

  • Track hiring outcomes and use data to continuously improve time-to-hire and quality of hire metrics

  • Ensure compliance with relevant employment laws, data privacy standards and internal policies in the hiring process

  • Driving the Motel Values within recruitment practices to ensure they are an integral part of Motel’s culture, intrinsic to our interview questions and screening process.

  • Support Motel’s sustainability initiatives by considering and raising ideas that enhance our commitment to sustainability and social responsibility, ensuring we promote environmentally responsible practices within HR and throughout the wider employee experience.

About you

You'll thrive here if you have;

  • Proven experience (3+ years) in recruitment/talent acquisition (ideally in-house rather than purely agency), managing the end-to-end hiring process

  • Experience building or significantly improving recruitment processes and systems

  • Strong sourcing skills: familiarity with direct search, passive candidate engagement, job boards, social sourcing, and referral programmes

  • Comfortable managing multiple roles and competing priorities, and being able to deliver efficiently

  • Experience partnering and influencing stakeholders across various functions, advising and educating hiring managers, with the ability to challenge constructively and influence decisions.

  • Knowledge and use of ATS systems such as Team Tailor - prior experience with this system would be advantageous

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), including the ability to represent the Motel brand and ‘sell’ our opportunities to candidates

  • The ability to operate as a true business partner; setting standards, building from…
