Grow with us as we embark on building tomorrow together by being the safest, most diverse and most profitable industrial gas company in the world.

Reimagine What’s Possible

Air Products is a world‑leading industrial gases company operating a specialist fleet of cryogenic ADR vehicles across the UK and Ireland. We are seeking a proactive, safety‑focused Workshop Supervisor to lead our on‑site workshop operations in Worcester.

Responsibilities

This is a hands‑on, working supervisor role, responsible for carrying out and supervising the maintenance and repair of cryogenic vehicles, tanks, and trailers, while leading a team of technicians. You will ensure all vehicles are prepared for DVSA, ADR, and other regulatory inspections and maintained to the highest safety and compliance standards.

You will supervise workshop activities, manage documentation and administrative duties, promote a strong safety‑first culture, and maintain alignment with Air Products procedures, DVSA, HSE, and legislative requirements. The role involves maintaining vehicles from 3,500 kg to 44,000 kg GVW and may require occasional travel across the UK and Ireland.

The ideal candidate will have strong diagnostic and fault‑finding skills, an understanding of electrical and pneumatic systems, and the ability to interpret technical data, schematics, and diagnostic tools. Accurate record‑keeping and leadership skills are crucial, along with a dedication to workplace safety and continuous improvement.

  • Lead and run day‑to‑day workshop operations, ensuring safe, efficient maintenance and repairs
  • Supervise, provide mentorship, and develop workshop technicians
  • Plan and coordinate servicing, inspections, diagnostics, and defect repairs for ADR vehicles and trailers
  • Ensure compliance with DVSA, ADR, PUWER, LOLER, and company standards
  • Carry out quality checks to ensure vehicles are roadworthy and legally compliant
  • Lead job scheduling to minimise vehicle downtime
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and inspection records
  • Liaise with transport teams, drivers, and external suppliers
  • Handle parts, stock levels, and workshop consumables
  • Promote safety through audits, toolbox talks, briefings, and initiatives for improvement
  • Ensure HSE compliance and lead in‑house BSP activities
  • Act as Permit to Work issuer for workshop activities (training provided)
What We Are Looking For
  • Proven experience working with cryogenic systems, including inspection and corrective work
  • Qualified HGV Technician (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent)
  • Previous experience as a Workshop Supervisor, Foreman, or Senior Technician within an HGV and/or ADR fleet
  • Strong technical knowledge of HGV systems, diagnostics, and ADR vehicle requirements
  • Good understanding of DVSA regulations, Operator Licence compliance, and safe workshop practices
  • Solid knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, including PUWER, LOLER, COSHH, and manual handling
  • Experience in incident reporting, investigation, and root cause analysis
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills
  • IT literate, with experience using fleet or workshop management systems
  • Full UK Driving Licence (HGV Class 1 desirable; ADR licence advantageous)
