Registered Manager – Brand New Children’s Residential Home (EBD)

Worcestershire

Full-Time (Including On-Call)

Ready to build something special from the ground up?

We’re recruiting an experienced and passionate Registered Manager to lead a brand-new children’s residential home supporting young people aged 8–16 with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).

This is a rare opportunity to be involved from the very beginning — helping shape the culture, systems, team, and standards of a new service while delivering genuinely child-centred, trauma-informed care.

With a maximum of just two young people placed at any one time
, this role offers the time and space to focus on quality, relationships, and long-term outcomes — not firefighting.

You’ll be supported by a hands‑on Responsible Individual and a committed senior leadership team who value autonomy, quality practice, and strong leadership.

The Role

As Registered Manager, you will:

Leadership & Operations
  • Register with Ofsted as the home’s Registered Manager.
  • Lead, inspire, and develop a stable residential care team.
  • Oversee the daily running of the home, ensuring children’s safety, wellbeing, and development.
  • Embed a culture of reflection, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Quality, Compliance & Inspection
  • Ensure compliance with Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
  • Prepare for inspections, audits, and monitoring visits.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and practice guidance.
  • Complete Regulation 44 and Regulation 45 requirements.
  • Drive the service toward achieving Good or Outstanding outcomes.
Care & Safeguarding
  • Deliver trauma‑informed, child‑centred care.
  • Oversee care plans, risk assessments, placement planning, and behaviour support strategies.
  • Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead.
  • Ensure incidents and safeguarding matters are accurately recorded and reviewed.
Staff Development
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and appraise staff.
  • Ensure high‑quality training in safeguarding, behaviour management, and trauma‑informed practice.
  • Manage rotas and on‑call arrangements.
  • Address performance and attendance in line with company policies.
Partnership Working
  • Build strong relationships with young people, families, social workers, education providers, and professionals.
  • Ensure children’s voices are central to care planning.
  • Represent the home professionally with external stakeholders.
About You
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
  • Eligible and willing to register as Registered Manager.
  • Significant experience in children’s residential care, including EBD.
  • Strong knowledge of regulations and quality standards.
  • Proven leadership and people‑management skills.
  • Excellent understanding of safeguarding and trauma‑informed practice.
  • Previous Registered Manager or Deputy Manager experience.
  • Experience opening or stabilising a children’s home.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic approaches such as PACE, PBS, or attachment‑based models.
What’s On Offer
  • Salary £50,000 – £60,000 per annum (DOE)
  • Opportunity to help set up and shape a brand‑new home
  • Low‑occupancy service focused on quality, not quantity
  • Supportive Responsible Individual and senior leadership
  • Enhanced on‑call payments
  • 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Long‑term stability and genuine career progression

All appointments are subject to Enhanced DBS and right‑to‑work checks.

If you’re ready to build a high‑quality service from day one and make a real difference to young people’s lives, we’d love to hear from you.
