We’re recruiting an experienced and passionate Registered Manager to lead a brand-new children’s residential home supporting young people aged 8–16 with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
This is a rare opportunity to be involved from the very beginning — helping shape the culture, systems, team, and standards of a new service while delivering genuinely child-centred, trauma-informed care.
With a maximum of just two young people placed at any one time
, this role offers the time and space to focus on quality, relationships, and long-term outcomes — not firefighting.
You’ll be supported by a hands‑on Responsible Individual and a committed senior leadership team who value autonomy, quality practice, and strong leadership.
The RoleAs Registered Manager, you will:
Leadership & Operations- Register with Ofsted as the home’s Registered Manager.
- Lead, inspire, and develop a stable residential care team.
- Oversee the daily running of the home, ensuring children’s safety, wellbeing, and development.
- Embed a culture of reflection, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
- Prepare for inspections, audits, and monitoring visits.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and practice guidance.
- Complete Regulation 44 and Regulation 45 requirements.
- Drive the service toward achieving Good or Outstanding outcomes.
- Deliver trauma‑informed, child‑centred care.
- Oversee care plans, risk assessments, placement planning, and behaviour support strategies.
- Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead.
- Ensure incidents and safeguarding matters are accurately recorded and reviewed.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and appraise staff.
- Ensure high‑quality training in safeguarding, behaviour management, and trauma‑informed practice.
- Manage rotas and on‑call arrangements.
- Address performance and attendance in line with company policies.
- Build strong relationships with young people, families, social workers, education providers, and professionals.
- Ensure children’s voices are central to care planning.
- Represent the home professionally with external stakeholders.
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Eligible and willing to register as Registered Manager.
- Significant experience in children’s residential care, including EBD.
- Strong knowledge of regulations and quality standards.
- Proven leadership and people‑management skills.
- Excellent understanding of safeguarding and trauma‑informed practice.
- Previous Registered Manager or Deputy Manager experience.
- Experience opening or stabilising a children’s home.
- Knowledge of therapeutic approaches such as PACE, PBS, or attachment‑based models.
- Salary £50,000 – £60,000 per annum (DOE)
