Head of Operations
Are you a driven and experienced operations leader looking to make a significant impact in a growing organisation? Our client is a recognised and successful family business that provides top-quality construction tools, site supplies and consumables across the UK. In support of their continued activity, we are seeking an experienced Head of Operations to oversee key operational functions, including warehouse and transport, supply chain, and customer service.
In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for driving cost reductions, enhancing operational efficiency, and delivering exceptional service to their valued customers.
- Lead and optimise the warehouse and transport operations, ensuring optimal performance, productivity, and compliance.
- Provide strategic oversight to the supply chain and purchasing functions, focusing on cost reduction, supplier management, and inventory optimisation.
- Manage the customer service team, implementing process improvements and fostering a customer‑centric culture.
- Develop and implement a robust cost‑to‑serve model across the organisation.
- Integrate the various operational departments into a cohesive, high‑performing unit.
- Support the company’s growth and scalability through effective operational strategies.
- Proven track record in a senior operations role within logistics, distribution, or a related industry.
- Extensive experience in warehouse and transport management, including knowledge of WMS and TMS systems.
- Demonstrated success in leading cost reduction and operational efficiency initiatives.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to make data‑driven decisions.
- Excellent leadership and change management abilities, with a focus on driving continuous improvement.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations in the industry.
- Relevant professional qualifications, such as a CPC in Transport, are desirable.
